This important Conference is to provide professional development and networking opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander playwrights. Extending over ten days, theatre professional will work with and encourage creative leadership amongst black playwrights looking to take their place on the national and international theatre scene.

There are currently 6 plays selected by both established and emerging writers; five Indigenous directors and three dramaturges. There will be approximately 25 actors involved,  primarily Aboriginal & Torres Strait  Islander.

The program will provide morning and afternoon workshops, late afternoon forums and discussions. Theatre industry professionals will help broaden and shape the playwrights’ development. Most of the workshops will be held within Tandanya.

Programs will be available in February 2000.

Conference Brochure for Registrations will be mailed in mid January.

As space permits, sessions will be open to a very limited number of Observers. Registration and payment is essential for admission to these conference workshops and forums.

There will be an Opening Ceremony on Thursday 2 March. Workshops will be from 3rd March to 10 March. Public theatre readings will be on 11th and 12 March. The Closing Celebration will be on the afternoon of 12th March.

Closing Celebration: 4pm, Sunday 12 March – Tandanya.

Participants, Observers (no cost); Public $35 ticket.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Observers ticket 10 days: Full participation in all of the above including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, all forums and workshop sessions where possible, final play readings and closing celebration: $420.00. Students: $260

Observers ticket per day: Including sessions, forum, lunch: $60 Students: $40

Readings/Performances:  10am Saturday 11 March  $25 per ticket

10am Sunday 12 March $25 per ticket

Closing Celebration:  Ticket $35 per person

Accommodation: Share modern, two & three bedroom apartments (own room, share bathroom). $55 and $45 per night.

Single apartment at $110 per night. Apartments are in the city and approximately 15 minute walk to Tandanya.
